Dasha Shevik is a model from the new era with modern and edgy looks coming from Chelyabinsk to change the scene of fashion. Today, you need to be an influencer, to have an Instagram account with a decent amount of followers interested in your day-to-day life to be noticed. More than that, you need to be different from the ordinary boring yesterdays. Fashion is changing and redefining the way we see
the world and appreciate the surroundings. We suddenly open our and discover that there is space to create and renew. Dasha is doing just that showing that even today there can be an approach never tried before that comes only from a defined personality and an attitude. Dasha was featured in Puss Puss Magazine, Garage Magazine, Office Magazine and took part in numerous fashion shows.
Hi Dasha! How is it going? When did you first realize you wanted to be a model?
I grew up on TV shows like America’s Next Top Model, but I never really thought that I could or want to be a model. In the ninth grade, when I was finishing high-school, I was invited to attend the school for models which promised me a wonderful modeling career after graduation, and I went there. Miracles did not happen, I was still in Chelyabinsk, with no photos or fame, the only thing that changed was the presence of money in my parents' wallets. However, this almost meaningless time spending made me think and I started looking for a real agency. After some time I managed to get into the best agency in my city and then I found a booker from my current mother agency.
Do you remember your first photo shoot? What were you the most nervous about?
It took me a while to stop being nervous before the camera. During my first photo shoots my eye was twitching and I was afraid to even move.
Today, the concept of beauty has changed dramatically with the near football looks presented by Gosha Rubchinskiy. What is beautiful for you?
Everything.
Name three albums of music released recently that you enjoy.
I checked my iTunes and realized that all the albums I'm listening to were released at least two years ago.
How does your day-off look like? Where would you usually find yourself?
‘In bed, in a vintage store, or on a roof in Brooklyn with my friends.’
How is it different for you to live in New York compared to your hometown?
‘At home how I dress can seem strange sometimes. And here, in New York, no one ever says that you look bad. People either just pass by or come up and make a compliment. People here are more open and tolerant, it's cool.’
What is your personal unique element that makes you stand out?
I don’t know.
What is a fashion show that has been a turning point for you in your career? What happened there?
I think my first whole fashion week in New York a year ago was the starting point for me.
Before a fashion show. What is the most difficult one you worked on?
The hardest thing is when you run from the first show to another one, you don’t have time to rehearse and everything is explained to you on the fingers at this moment when you already stand in a line-up, all the rest is not scary.
If you could change one thing in the world of fashion what would it be?
All the models are afraid to become "old" and the old age of models comes earlier than with everyone else. I would be glad to see on the catwalk, not only girls 16-20 years old but also beautiful 30+ women.
Cats or dogs?
GOATS.
What do you dream about?
I would give a part of my life for a teleport.
What is your next destination?
I do not know exactly where I'll be in a week, the life of the model is full of surprises, you can be sent a ticket for a photo shoot to another country in the middle of the night.
